The expressive brush strokes and splashes of colour that feature in Allistair’s energetic paintings, whether created by hand or using an iPad, have effortlessly translated into a stunning rug collection of hand-knotted rugs, made from the finest New Zealand wool and hand crafted in Nepal.
Allistair has collaborated with Rug-Maker to produce the #Canvas To Carpet collection, a dynamic series of rugs that launched with three rug designs; Rhythm, Eclipse and Paint, creating dynamic artworks for interior spaces whether displayed on the floor or a wall.
With this collection Allistair has achieved that rare quality of creating an aesthetically pleasing interior design product that serves a practical purpose yet still keeps the spontaneity and distinctive style of his colourful compositions.

The City rug was Allistair’s first venture into designing for the carpet design industry and won Allistair the AfghanMade Best Young Designer Award at the 9th Carpet Design Awards in 2014. Inspired by Allistair’s acrylic painting Study of The City, an abstract representation of the skyline and southbank of London, The City rug was handmade in Afghanistan, using hand-spun wool and natural vegetable dyes to achieve the vibrantly coloured and painterly inspired surface design.
The City rug is a testament to the expert skills of the Afghan craftsmen and women, demonstrating to the international markets that their traditional weaving techniques, combined with a rich heritage, can create a product that is both contemporary and luxurious.
